Kaylieann Steinbach is a 3-year-old girl whose parents decided to let her pick out the outfit for her picture day.
In my opinion, this is not the outfit they expected her to pick, but even son, they let her put it on!
The little girl’s dad Austin Steinbach explains that he and his wife usually allow their daughter to choose between three different outfits every morning, excluding the outfit that Kaylieann chose.
Austin said that they did the same for the picture day and the Supergirl wasn’t an option. He further adds that his daughter just looked at the outfits her parents have prepared and shouted ‘POOTERGIRL’. He said he couldn’t do much but agree with her.
‘Pootergirl’ is actually the word that Kaylieann uses to say Supergirl. Kaylieann is having troubles with the ‘S’ sound and unfortunately she is 75% deaf. Austin and his family are working hard to help the toddler improve the sign language. They say she becomes very good.
Austin stated that ASL was of big contribution in bringing out Kaylieann’s personality in a very different way. It’s been very important to them to see their daughter accepting herself.
The proud dad has only the best words to describe his daughter. He says that this little girl is brave and unique and a clear representation of grace, joy and intelligence.
Knowing their Kaylieann, choosing the Supergirl outfit wasn’t actually a big surprise for Austin. The girl enjoys wearing colorful costumes, so her dad has to hide them so he can wash them.
He added that this costume was actually bought for their trip to San Francisco Comic-Con. Kaylieann was wearing the costume for two weeks and Austin had tough time to take it off her.
Austin is very thankful to the Kaylieann’s school because the staff there is very supportive and generous with the kids. They let the children wear different outfits. In this case, the other kids too, joined Kaylieann in wearing this super cool outfit.
Her dad said that people are very excited to see what she is wearing every day. He also said that even though he doesn’t know whether her classmates actually want to wear costumes or not, it is always pleasant to hear them talking about how cool she looks in different costumes on different days.
We appreciate that this little girl’s parents are not ‘offended’ by the outfits their daughter chooses for whichever event in her life. They are proud to see her as a supergirl in the yearbook or have her framed on the wall. They simply let her enjoy her life and sparkle in whichever outfit she chooses.
Although she chooses the outfits of heroes from her comic books, she is a big superhero to her parents.
